This is the motto of the former American Women's Self Defense Association. Thanks to the generosity of Phil Messina, Modern Warrior's® president, Modern Warrior® was the home of AWSDA's headquarters for many years, from its inception in 1990.
There are many philosophical statements like this throughout the building at Modern Warrior. This particular sign is hanging in the south gym to remind students, especially Rape Prevention and Female Self Defense students that they DO NOT HAVE TO BE VICTIMIZED.
In this picture you are looking at the South Gym from the north side. Note the patch wall on the left. We started this wall in 1996. (Too bad we didn't think of it earlier!) These are some of the agencies that have trained with MW.
